What to Expect

So after that post, it appears we're off and running! While I'll shortly be joined by two learned scholars of the pitch, I'm flying solo as of now. But who am I, you may wonder?

Despite the byline, this is (unfortunately) not the official blog of the greatest striker in post-war Britain. I am a senior at Boston College and enjoy all the usual college stuff: sports, beer, women (specifically one), and movies that make me laugh harder than they make me think.

This blog will feature stunningly witty commentary, primarily focusing on the world of soccer. Or "football". I'll use these words interchangeably. Some recurring features you're likely to run into:
  1. Speculative Rip of the Week: Wherein we feature a truly optimistic effort from distance (usually resulting in goaltime)
  2. The McDowell Touch: Wherein we laugh at the folly of others (origin of name: SHS soccer '08)
  3. Intramural Updates: With 2 of our writers competing for the prestigious B.Y.E. football club, and our 3rd on loan to an intramural club at Miami of Ohio, there should be plenty of post-match banter. Warning: after a loss, these posts may be laced with a touch of the fiercest profanity
  4. Actual Updates: Wherein we examine various football leagues where the players are actually skilled (like the ACC, MLS, and EPL)
So that's what you can look for! And as always,
