MLS Update: Philadelphia Union to Sign Freddy Adu

Freddy Adu, former wunderkind and alleged savior of American soccer, is still only 22. Moreover, he is returning to MLS from under a rock Portuguese team Benfica and will be suiting up for the Philadelphia Union. Adu has enjoyed a semi-resurgence of late as he has been selected for a few recent national team matches and has played quite adequately. The Union are currently battling with the yellowest team in America, the Columbus Crew, for first place in the Eastern Conference. This signing will definitely help, and as Adu is not classified as a designated player, they still have room to sign a big name. Adu never came close to living up to his potential, but hopefully he can continue to make strides and become a contributor on the big stage for the Yanks.
